Microsoft previously announced that they would move the core data for all existing customers to Australia. With the revised program approach launched this week (15/7/2016), customers who want to move their core data need to specifically request a move in order to guarantee they will be moved.

Here are the 5 top questions/answers;

Q: How to request a data move 

A: Request period begins on the August 1, 2016 and is available on the Office 365 Admin Center – Existing Office 365 customers will need to submit a request before the deadline October 31, 2016 in order to have the customer data of their participating Office 365 services moved to their new region.
